I’ve been using MyBlogLog for a couple of my blogs and so far, I like it. MyBlogLog is a blog widget that allows you to see pictures of recent visitors to your site who have MyBlogLog accounts.
It also allows you to establish communities on MyBlogLog for each of your sites and to find new contacts and network with other MyBlogLog members. You can leave messages for other members or join their communities, just as they can do so for yours.
The site also provides basic statistics, which are somewhat useful. The package is $25/year, so it’s not expensive, and with that, you get reports on
1) where readers came from
2) what readers viewed
3) what readers clicked on
The other nifty feature of MyBlogLog is that it does drive some traffic to your website. As you surf the web, your picture and a link to your profile show up on other websites you visit that have the widget installed. Anyone can then click on your profile and then on to your website. I’ve noticed a number of clicks coming from the community.
The biggest drawback I see is that it’s somewhat slow at points – especially if your site gets a lot of traffic. The good news is that Yahoo may soon roll out some new features and updates, according to TechCrunch (MyBlogLog was purchased by Yahoo! in January 2007.)
